Remember the time in 2020 when Ellen Adarna graced our Instagram feeds with her Q&A posts? These posts were such a hit and brought curiosity to many followers. One of the posts that caught a lot of attention was when several people asked the actress who is the maker of her fabulous jewelry pieces. Adarna proudly revealed that her jewelry sets were from Sep Vergara.
Joseph Vergara, or simply Sep to his colleagues, hails from Pampanga. He grew up with a family that is into different kinds of businesses, and it was clearly the same path that Vergara would take. However, Vergara made the decision to finally take over the business during a difficult time when their pawn shop was on the brink of bankruptcy. In his Metro.Style April 2021 cover story, Vergara shared his sentiments about this experience. “I decided that I had to do something because I was close to our employees there. So I said, why not try appraising the diamonds and the jewelry?”
To further develop his expertise in diamonds and jewelry making, Vergara took several courses abroad. One of these certification classes was from the well-respected Gemological Institute of America (GIA). GIA is the institute that established the 4Cs – cut, clarity, color, and carat weight. This is the international standard used to evaluate the quality of diamonds.
After making a name as one of the top producers of fine jewelry in Manila, Vergara and his team pursued to build the first platinum jewelry store in the Philippines. This project was the bridge that connected the gap between platinum jewelry makers and enthusiasts. The store not only showcases collections of unique platinum jewelry pieces but also offers aftercare services in the Ayala Malls, the 30th branch in Pasig City.
